Munawar Iqbal Faruqui (born 28 January 1992) is an Indian Comedian, Rapper and winner of the reality show Bigg Boss Season 17. He had become quite famous for his stand-up comedy and poetry. But he came into limelight when he appeared in Kangana Ranaut’s show Lock Up Season 1. He was also the winner of this season. He has gained a lot of fan following from Bigg Boss. Due to which he has also become the winner of this season.
Munawar Faruqui was born on 28 January 1992 in Junagadh, Gujarat. At that time, Munawar’s mother, father, grandmother and sister and some other relatives lived in his family.

Early life and Education
Munawar Faruqui did his schooling from his hometown. Munawar’s childhood was quite different from that of other children. Munavvar and his sister’s expenses were borne by their mother.
She used to make papad and chakli and sell them. When Munawar grew up a little, he also started supporting him. Even if Munawar’s father did some work, he never spent his money on his wives and children.
Munawar’s father did not help his mother. He used his money only for himself. Not only this, Munawar’s father and family members also used to beat Munawar’s mother. But she tolerated everything for her children. Many people were kill*ed in the riots that took place in Gujarat in 2002.
Many people’s houses were destroyed in those riots, one of them was Munawar’s house. Munawar lived in a big joint family. So he himself tells that at the age of 6 or 7 he was a victim of sex*ual exploitation and that too from someone close to him.
Munawar’s mother struggled a lot, she was very strong. But in the year 2007, Munawar’s mother’s courage gave way and she decided to commit suicide.
This incident happened in the year 2007. Munawar says that generally I used to live around my mother only. But that day I slept with my grandmother.
In the morning, Munawar’s grandmother woke up Munawar and said that something has happened to your mother and they have taken her to the hospital. Hearing this, Munawar reached the hospital and saw his mother screaming.
When Munawar asked his family members what had happened, they said that he was having a stomach ache. At that time Munawar realized that it was not a stomach ache. He asked the family members to tell the truth as to what had happened.
He was told that your mother had drunk acid. Munawar immediately told this to the doctor. The doctor asked why didn’t you tell me earlier. By the time Munawar told, it was too late and Munawar’s mother died. He used to sleep with his mother but during the day he slept with his grandmother.
If he had not done so, he would have known that mother had drunk acid and he would have saved her. Munawar still regrets why he stayed away from his mother that night.
When his post-mortem was done after his mother’s death, it was found that he had not even eaten food for 12 days. During these days, one of Munawar’s sisters had eloped and got married.
So the family held Munawar’s mother responsible for this also. Used to recite vomit everyday. There was this pressure on him and there were many other tensions as well.
After a few years, when Munawar grew up a little, he was married. His wife’s name is Jasmine. Munawar was not even mature enough for marriage by then he was married.
For this reason, he was never able to enter into that relationship and the relationship between him and his wife never went well.
After the death of Munawar’s mother, his father came to Dongri Mumbai from Junagadh with Munawar and his sisters. He had spent some time here when his father’s health deteriorated and he stopped working.
After this Munawar started working. Sometimes he worked as a salesman and sometimes as a waiter. Through these works he could hardly meet the expenses of his household.
He also started doing computer courses. Then spent some time teaching them about computers. Because of which he got the job of graphic designer.
When his family became a little stable, he decided that he would do stand up comedy. Munawar had gone to the set of shooting an ad on behalf of his company, where he had to ask a stand-up comedian for two lines.
Munawar did a two-line comedy there which was very impressive. After this, Munawar also started doing stand-up comedy part time along with his job. He started getting recognized for his comedy and people started liking him.
Munawar was advised by his father to do comedy full time and Munawar also wanted the same. So he decided that he would do comedy full time and leave the job.
He did the same, he started doing stand up comedy full time and started uploading videos on YouTube. In the beginning, Munawar was not getting views on YouTube, he used to go to people and request them to subscribe to the channel.
This went on for a long time but he did not lose courage. When one of his videos went viral, all the videos went viral. But the lockdown was imposed due to which he was not able to do stand-up comedy.
During the lockdown, he uploaded comedy videos on Instagram. Munawar’s father died of illness in February 2020, shortly before the lockdown was imposed.
Munawar got huge recognition from his YouTube channel and became a famous stand-up comedian. He was getting shows one after the other. Munawar also started making songs.
Initially, he made two songs like Chowkidar and Nark which were quite controversial. Because he targeted the government in these songs.
But Munawar had to face the biggest controversy when a clip of one of his old videos went viral. In which he joked about Mata Sita and Shri Ram.
Munawar was arrested by MP Police in January 2021. A case was filed against him by BJP MLA’s son Eklavya Laxman and he was arrested from the moving show itself.
He had filed a case that Munawar targets Hindu religion in his comedy and makes fun of it. After this Munawar got into big trouble.
Munawar had to stay in jail for 35 days and after being released, he started receiving daily threats to kill his family. He stopped going out in public.
His 12 shows were also cancelled. His problems were increasing. He had to endure this kind of behavior for a long time. He also clarified his joke but to no avail.
However, due to all this he had become a famous person from a controversial person. This was going to open the next path for him.
Career
In the year 2022, Munawar Faruqui got a chance to go to the OTT reality show Lockup which was based on Bigg Boss.
When people saw Munawar here, his fan following gradually increased. By the time the show ended, he had gained a huge fan following. Munawar was also the winner of Lockup Season 1.
After winning here, Munawar’s YouTube channel became very famous. He started being calling for the interviews. After he expressed his views, people started liking Munawar in large numbers.
Munawar says, “I have lost as much as I have gained in my life. There is a strange loneliness in my mind and no matter how much money I earn, I can never earn that thousand rupees due to which my mother lost her life.”
This thing has become a wound on Munawar’s soul. His mother could not survive his one mistake and this wound can never heal.
Munawar admits that he has made many mistakes in life. He always regrets those mistakes. Munawar also revealed in an interview that he had cheated in a relationship.
Which he also regrets a lot. Apart from this, Munawar has many regrets. He thinks that he should not have done that.
But he did not always have this understanding and he did not have anyone who could tell him that it was wrong.
Munawar also has a 5 year old son. After the birth of his son, the relationship between him and his wife worsened. Jasmine and Munawar separated in the year 2021.
Munawar loves his son very much and in an episode of Bigg Boss he said that he has been living with me for some time.
During the lockup, Munawar also came very close to social media star Anjali Arora. Both of them denied having a relationship and called this relationship friendship.
These days, Munawar is very close to famous influencer and model Nazila Sitaishi. Munawar and Najla are dating each other since December 2021.
Both of them met on the shoot of a song. From there they became friends and soon this relationship became more than friendship.
